How do I get started? (show)
- Accounts are free to students within New Zealand.
To create a student account for e-ako maths go to e-ako.meaningfulmaths.nt.edu.au/mmws/nz/ and click on the "Student registration" link.
What do I do if I've forgotten my password? (show)
- If you've forgotten your password you can enter your username in the box on the Forgotten password page. An email will be sent to the email address given when your account was created. If this was your teacher's email address you may need to ask them to help reset your password.
How do I know which activities to do? (show)
- Your teacher may have asked you to complete specific e-ako or to work on a specific pathway. They may also have used their teacher account to add flags to the specific e-ako that they want you to complete first. If not then you can choose whichever pathway interests you, or whichever pathway you think you need to learn more about. The e-ako at the left hand end of the top row on each pathway are the easiest and they get harder as you move to the right. Each row is harder than the row above.
What happens if I don't have time to finish an e-ako? (show)
- If you don't have time to finish the e-ako you are working on, the pages you have completed will be saved. You can just carry on from the same page next time you log in.

How do I get started? (show)
- Teachers should access e-ako maths using their nzmaths username and password. You can register an account for nzmaths on the Register new user page.
- If you have forgotten your nzmaths log in details, enter your email address or username in the box on the Request new nzmaths password page and you will be sent a link which allows you to reset your password. The first line of that email tells you your nzmaths username.
- The first time you log in to e-ako maths using your nzmaths account you will be asked to either link an existing e-ako maths account or register a new one. You will only need to do this once. If you have forgotten your e-ako maths log in details, enter your email address or username in the box on the Forgotten e-ako password page and you will be sent a link which allows you to choose a new password.
- Once you have linked an e-ako account you will have access to a large collection of PLD e-ako in the four PLD 360 pathways. You will also be able to create a class to track your students' progress in the student e-ako pathways.
How should I use e-ako maths adventures? (show)
- e-ako maths adventures is deliberately designed so that it can be used flexibly, however to get the best results you will need to think carefully about what will work for you and your class. The content is designed to teach new ideas rather than as games to practice known facts. You will need to spend some time with your students helping them to understand that the goal is to carefully read and complete each page, rather than to finish each e-ako as quickly as possible. Click for suggestions of 10 ways that the student e-ako can be used.
How can I track my students? (show)
- As long as you have logged into e-ako using the "Teacher login" button, or by logging in on nzmaths, you should have the option to "Create new class". Click on this link, identify your school and choose a name for your class. You will be given a unique join code for your class.
- Use the join code when you are registering new accounts for your students, or tell students with existing accounts to go to their profile page and enter your join code.
- Click the "check progress" button to track the progress of your class on the student e-ako, or the "Summary reports" button to create and download a spreadsheet summarising student results.
How do I register students? (show)
- You can create a student account for e-ako maths by going to e-ako.meaningfulmaths.nt.edu.au/mmws/nz/ and clicking on the "Student registration" link.
- If you need to create accounts for several students you may prefer to upload a class list. To do so, log in to your account and click on the "Manage my class" button. Click the cog button at the top right of the screen, choose "Create users" and follow the instructions. Note that your class list needs to have the correct column headings, and needs to be saved in CSV format. Download a template CSV file.
How do I remove students from my class? (show)
- Log in to your account and choose "Manage my class". Drag the students that you want to remove from the "My students" box to the "Remove students" box. These students will be moved to your school's "Unallocated students" class. They will still be able to use e-ako maths and will not lose any points, but you will no longer be able to track their progress.
How can we move students from one class to another? (show)
- Students can move their account from one class to another by going to their profile page and entering the join code for their new class. Their progress will all be retained and their new teacher will be able to track their progress from their teacher account. Schools can apply for an administrator account by having their principal complete this form and send it to e-ako@meaningfulmaths.nt.edu.au/mmws/nz. An administrator account can be used to quickly move groups of students between classes within a school or to track the progress of all students in a school.
